7.41d Position 1 Vengeful Spirit: The Perfect Fighting Core
July 25th, 2026

In patch 7.41d,
Vengeful Spirit has become one of the strongest Position 1 heroes—her win rate alone makes her current dominance clear. This guide covers the complete Position 1
Vengeful Spirit playstyle: her stat advantages, skill build, item path, and teamfight approach, so you can experience the smooth tempo of "see an enemy, start fighting."
I. Why
Vengeful Spirit: A Double Bonus of Stats and Mechanics
The reason
Vengeful Spirit is so strong this patch lies in the perfect fit between her underlying numbers and her mechanics. Excellent base attack time: a BAT of 1.5—strong numbers and a smooth feel.
Vengeance Aura grants extra bonuses to herself, making last-hitting and attack-moving to harass feel silky smooth. Melee and ranged bonuses at once: her attacks enjoy both the melee and ranged bonuses simultaneously—for example, no miss when attacking uphill, and the attack-range bonuses from
Monkey King Bar and
Dragon Lance apply to
Vengeful Spirit as well. Together these mechanics give
Vengeful Spirit an outstanding feel and stat foundation in both the early lane and late-game stand-and-fight.
II. Skill Build
Early skill build: prioritize
Wave of Terror, but only take one or two levels. This skill reduces both attack damage and armor, giving a double benefit in early trades; as a long-range AOE with a short cooldown and low mana cost, it can also secure ranged creeps and be used later to stack and farm camps. Add points in
Vengeance Aura. Take
Magic Missile flexibly based on how the lane goes.
III. Item Path
Transitional Items:
Power Treads +
Specialist's Array. The new item
Specialist's Array is practically tailor-made for
Vengeful Spirit, fitting her perfectly on every front. Unlike other ranged carries that need
Hurricane Pike to kite and space,
Vengeful Spirit leans more toward stationary, stand-and-fight output in the late game, so she doesn't need a pile of mobility items;
Specialist's Array can later upgrade into the higher-damage
Hydra's Breath.
Talents: pick the right side all the way down. The level 10 talent is especially key—it adds both spell damage and shield value, offering superb value per point.
The core mid-game build is a by-the-numbers three items:
Manta Style +
Aghanim's Scepter +
Butterfly, then upgrade into
Hydra's Breath. This build satisfies both fighting and farming needs at once, with respectable mobility and stationary output.
Late-game luxury items can be picked flexibly by the situation: the combination of
Daedalus and
Satanic, or
Eye of Skadi +
Abyssal Blade, are also solid choices.
IV. Teamfight Playstyle: The Pinnacle of Stationary Output
In the late game, if you look at DPS alone,
Vengeful Spirit can rival any other core. And compared to other cores,
Vengeful Spirit's biggest advantage is her output environment: no need to worry about engaging, kiting, or survival—just stand on the field and fight whoever you see; having two lives brings enormous fault tolerance; even if she falls, at worst she buys back and keeps fighting. This forgiving, high-fault-tolerance playstyle lets even newcomers pick
Vengeful Spirit up easily and just frag to their heart's content.
V. Summary
Position 1
Vengeful Spirit is a rare fighting carry this patch that combines strong numbers, silky feel, and extreme fault tolerance. Master this by-the-numbers playstyle, and the 7.41d Position 1
Vengeful Spirit will be a reliable climbing pick for you.
