7.41d Magic's Peak: Lina's Strongest Version

I. Patch Background

Since 7.40c, Lina has received numeric buffs in two consecutive minor patches. In 7.41d, magic-focused Lina is at her strongest and sits at the top of the patch's magic-damage meta.

II. Laning: Dominant Mid Presence

Skill build: max Dragon Slave, max Fiery Soul second, and take one point in Light Strike Array at level one. Dragon Slave and Light Strike Array deal high damage, while Fiery Soul grants attack speed. Combined with Lina's naturally long attack range, most mid laners struggle to last-hit or even remain in lane against her.

Two things to watch: manage your mana and Fiery Soul stacks, since building stacks makes it harder to control the wave; and when diving towers, watch for enemy support rotations that can trap you.

III. Early Items & Tempo

Early items: Boots of Travel + Kaya, providing both mobility and sustain.

Ganks: Lina's own crowd control (Light Strike Array) is unreliable, so before Aghanim's Scepter comes online, fighting and pickoffs still depend on teammates providing vision and lockdown.

IV. Talent Choices

Standard build: left → left → right → right.

Against magic-heavy lineups: at level 15 you can take the right-side talent for more survivability and a greater margin for error.

V. Core Items: Aghanim's Scepter + Yasha and Kaya

Aghanim's Scepter: provides both damage and a valuable safe window to deal it — 7 seconds of flight with 35% spell amplification. It excels at pushing lanes, securing solo kills, or quickly leaving a teamfight to reposition and re-engage (at the two-item timing, Lina can burst a full-health Pudge).

Yasha and Kaya: the other core item, further improves Lina's stats and combat power.

VI. Follow-up Build Paths

Maximum-burst build: Ethereal Blade + Dagon. Both provide meaningful stats and extra health for survivability, their active damage benefits from Aghanim's Scepter's spell amplification, and they now also grant cast range — an excellent fit for Lina.

Standard, safer build: Black King Bar → Ethereal Blade → then Refresher Orb or Scythe of Vyse.

Blink Dagger: entirely a personal-preference item, not mandatory.

VII. Why She's the "Ceiling"

Aghanim's Shard grants maximum attack speed, so Lina's physical damage is formidable too, making her overall output explosive once she comes online. As a magic hero, she can clear waves, burst targets, secure solo pickoffs, take Roshan, and destroy towers — often enough to end the game on her own.
