Tiny Dota 2 gameplay guide cover
This guide fully breaks down TinyTiny's entire kit—its InsurmountableInsurmountable and Tree GrabTree Grab mechanics, laning, itemization, farming tempo, team role, and teamfight combo.
I. InsurmountableInsurmountable In Depth
TinyTiny's innate InsurmountableInsurmountable provides status and slow resistance, and the resistance value keeps scaling up with your strength. The more strength you stack, the shorter the duration of stuns, slows, and other negative effects on you. This is exactly what makes TinyTiny a textbook "hit-and-run" skirmisher—go in to trade and deal damage, then immediately back off to stay safe, surviving off high resistance rather than tanking damage with armor or HP.
II. Tree GrabTree Grab
Every level of this skill steadily increases its power: at level 1 you can only swing a tree for 5 attacks with 10 bonus base damage; once maxed, the bonus base damage rises to 40, and the bonus building damage and splash damage all go up. As the level rises, the cooldown and mana cost also drop at the same time—this is very rare in Dota 2, where most skills only increase in effect without their mana cost and CD going down. That's the core reason everyone maxes Tree GrabTree Grab first: it's the foundation of TinyTiny's farming and development.
III. Early Laning Playstyle
TinyTiny has very high level-1 base damage, but auto-attacks are basically only good for last-hitting—never get into frequent trading wars with the enemy hero. TinyTiny's attack range is very short, it's a 0-armor melee hero with only 275 base move speed, so you'll always lose a head-on slugfest. Take AvalancheAvalanche at level 2—it's mana-heavy, but it deals a 1.5-second stun plus solid damage, so save it for key moments, like last-hitting a low-HP creep to secure the wave; don't just throw it out mindlessly.
IV. Early Itemization
Standard starting items: Magic StickMagic Stick + two Gauntlets of StrengthGauntlets of Strength + two Iron BranchIron Branch, maximizing your own damage at the start to make last-hitting easier. The first laning item is usually Belt of StrengthBelt of Strength, though some players pick Boots of SpeedBoots of Speed or Gloves of HasteGloves of Haste instead to put more last-hitting pressure on the opponent. Regen items for health and mana are a must—TinyTiny's sustain in lane is very poor, and the consequence of skimping on consumables is basically losing your tier-1 tower and letting the enemy snowball an economic lead.
V. Mid-Game Farming Tempo
Jungle farming isn't the priority early on, but once you have Boots of SpeedBoots of Speed and a level-3 Tree GrabTree Grab, farming the jungle becomes very efficient. Good neutral items matter a lot—the Tumbler's ToyTumbler's Toy is a perfect fit for TinyTiny, satisfying his need to repeatedly enter and exit fights. The level 10 talent of +2 Tree GrabTree Grab attacks accelerates his farming speed once again.
VI. Team Role
TinyTiny isn't a hard carry like TerrorbladeTerrorblade or Shadow FiendShadow Fiend; it's more of a pickoff-tempo hero, and even if your team has another resource-hungry core, the two can coexist perfectly. Once you get a Blink DaggerBlink Dagger or Shadow BladeShadow Blade, TinyTiny becomes a massive threat on every lane—his high resistance, ample HP, and mobility let him keep pressure on every wave and actively hunt isolated enemies; but you can't just farm on your own and play single-player—you have to follow the team's tempo.
VII. Teamfight Ability Usage
To deal the maximum damage, the correct combo order is—lead with AvalancheAvalanche, pause briefly, then follow with TossToss; don't chain the two seamlessly—the old mechanic where TossToss got bonus damage from AvalancheAvalanche was removed long ago. Tree ThrowTree Throw should only be used to secure a kill. If Tree ThrowTree Throw won't kill the target, keep your Tree GrabTree Grab form and keep attacking. Overall, the teamfight style is all about skirmishing—dump a quick burst of damage and back off immediately, then re-engage for a second round after the enemy's Black King BarBlack King Bar duration ends; never stand in the middle of the fight and tank the full combo.
